Why Eden leads out-perform Meta for Christian charities

With Eden you only pay once a Christian has chosen your advert, and at a much lower cost per lead than Meta. So, these pre-qualified Christian audiences are both cheaper to reach and far likelier to convert into a regular monthly givers.

Meta's weakness: Meta won't allow religion-based targeting, so you rely on broad lookalikes — most impressions go to non-Christians.

And per Stewardship.org.uk research, practising Christians give materially more — and more consistently — than nominal donors. So Eden wins twice: higher conversion and higher gift value per donor.

Methodology & assumptions — stress-test the numbers

+
What's the lead → regular-donor conversion really based on?

Eden's pre-qualified leads convert at materially higher rates than cold social or search traffic because every lead has just transacted on eden.co.uk — they're verified buyers of Christian content, not anonymous form-fills. The default of 8% reflects mid-range observed performance for the proportion who go on to become regular monthly donors; conservative charities should model 4–6%, ambitious 10–15%.

3-year LTV calculation

Year 1 = full donor cohort × 12 × avg monthly gift. Years 2 & 3 apply your retention rate as straight-line cohort decay (year 2 = cohort × retention, year 3 = cohort × retention²). No second-gift, legacy or major-donor uplift is modelled — those are upside.

Gift Aid (+25%)

Applied as a flat 25% HMRC reclaim on gross gifts. Assumes 100% of donors are eligible UK taxpayers and complete a valid declaration — adjust downward if your real declaration rate is, say, 80%.

Eden gift-value uplift

Default +20% is a deliberately conservative figure — research from Stewardship.org.uk and Barna UK shows practising Christians give 2–4× more than nominal donors, but some comparator-channel donors will also be committed Christians, so the marginal uplift on a like-for-like cohort is smaller. Move the slider to your own observed uplift if you have it.

Channel comparison CPLs

Meta, Google, print and broadcast CPL ranges come from published UK charity sector benchmarks (Wood for Trees, Lightful, CharityComms) and Eden's own client briefings. Defaults sit mid-range; sliders let you replace them with your actual reported figures.

What's excluded (conservative)

One-off appeal gifts, legacy pipeline, brand halo, second-cohort referrals, and uplift from cross-sell into events/sponsorship are all excluded. The headline number is regular-giving only.

GDPR-compliant, opt-in data — every lead, every time

Every supporter record Eden delivers is generated via explicit opt-in consent at the point of an eden.co.uk transaction, with a clear statement that the supporter wishes to hear from the partner charity. We comply fully with the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR. Eden is the data controller at point of capture and transfers a clean, fully consented record under a Data Sharing Agreement — no scraped lists, no purchased data, no "soft" opt-ins.
